Idaho National Laboratory invests $15,000 to improve math, science and technology education at Sho-Ban High School/Junior High
On Aug. 25, the U.S. Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory (INL) will invest $15,000 in partnership with the Sho-Ban High School/ Junior High to implement a computer-based science and technology education program. The financial contribution came from Battelle Energy Alliance (BEA) corporate funds. BEA is the managing and operating contractor for INL.
With this donation, the science classroom at Sho-Ban school will be equipped with wireless laptops that will be loaded with science curriculum software. With the laptops and the science software, Sho-Ban students will be able to complete additional science activities that relate to existing school science activities. By using the computer- based curriculum, students will learn science-related concepts through state-of-the-art simulation that can be tailored to each student's existing knowledge.
With this, INL in partnership Sho-Ban School hopes to leverage the collective knowledge and efforts of secondary schools, curriculum, and computer-based learning to give students rigorous, relevant, reality-based knowledge to better prepare them for future careers or post-secondary education.
INL is promoting educational programs that enhance math, science and technology for K-12 students. Having a high-quality program like the one at Sho-Ban school will increase opportunities for students to gain additional insight in math, science and technology.
INL is one of the DOE's 10 multiprogram national laboratories. The laboratory performs work in each of the DOE's strategic goal areas – energy, national security, science and environment.
