INL, Rocket Club to host rocket summer camp for kids

Idaho Falls Model Rocketry Club (IFMRC) and Idaho National Laboratory's Center for Space Nuclear Research (CSNR) will host a summer rocket camp for kids July 25, 26, and 27. Participants will learn about rocket science, how to calculate the altitude of airborne rockets, and assemble their own during the three-day camp.

Estes Alpha III Rocket kits or an equivalent will be provided by INL's CSNR. Students will meet from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Bonneville High School's cafeteria the first two days, where members of IFMRC and INL will help students assemble their rockets and teach lessons. Students will launch their rockets in Bonneville High School's baseball field on Friday, July 27 at noon. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Camp registration includes a $25 fee for those 20 years of age and younger that includes a one-year membership to the National Association of Rocketry (NAR), a one-year subscription to Sport Rocketry magazine, and liability insurance. Registration is $62 for those 21 and older.

Applications must be received by July 2, 2007 and spots in the program are limited. For more information, contact Dave Spencer, (208) 526-8441.
