FOURTH FOLLOW-UP NEWS RELEASE FOR INL EMERGENCY

(NEXT UPDATE WILL BE AT 5 A.M. THURSDAY)

Wildland fire status at 1:10 a.m. Thursday

At 1:10 a.m. Thursday, 60 firefighters continued to fight a range fire that has grown to about 1,000 acres on the Idaho National Laboratory desert Site.

Fire crews from INL, the Bureau of Land Management and Blackfoot and Shelley fire departments are fighting the blaze that is burning south of Highway 20 near East Butte.

  • Winds are blowing at 12 mph in a northwesterly direction.
  • The fire line extends for several miles south of U.S. Highway 20.
  • U.S. Highway 20 remains closed to traffic.
  • INL officials advised employees to call the INL bus hotline toll-free at 1-877-424-4635 to hear a recorded message on the status of bus operations. For more bus information, call 208-525-0505.
  • The next news release update will be at about 5 a.m.
