FOLLOW-UP NEWS RELEASE FOR INL EMERGENCY

INL wildland fire at 2,500 acres, August 17

Firefighters from Bingham County and Shelley have joined crews from the U.S. Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory and Bureau of Land Management Friday afternoon as they are battling a wildland fire that has grown to 2,500 acres near the East Butte off Highway 20. The fire has moved off the INL site.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has reported more than 8,000 lightning strikes in eastern Idaho this afternoon as thunderstorms moved across the Arco desert. A "red flag" warning is in effect until 11 p.m.
