INL investigating incident in which employee injured hand

INL safety officials continue to investigate an incident in which an employee injured his hand while cutting material on a table saw.

An INL mechanical technician suffered a deep laceration to his right hand at the Heyrend Way Laboratory, 2556 Heyrend Way in Idaho Falls, on the morning of Jan. 11.

A review of the incident indicates that the saw was being used to cut high-density foam material and that the blade guard/anti-kickback device was not in place when the incident occurred.

INL management is taking actions to prevent these types of injuries in the future.
