Laboratory Director to Discuss Fukushima, Nuclear Energy

Idaho National Laboratory Director John Grossenbacher is one of four experts who will discuss nuclear energy following an April 17 screening of “Energy on Trial”, a documentary on the pros and cons of various energy sources.

The screening is the third installment of “The Energy Debate”, a four-part film series on the future of energy in America. The event is sponsored by the Energy Systems Technology & Education Center (ESTEC), a partnership of ISU, INL and Partners for Prosperity.

Grossenbacher plans to address the impacts of Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant accident a year after the disaster, the recent licensing of two new nuclear facilities in Georgia and South Carolina, and Gov. Otter’s Leadership in Nuclear Energy (LINE) Commission.

Grossenbacher was interviewed for “Energy on Trial” in 2010 and is featured in the film.

Kathy McCarthy from INL and Lawrence Beaty from ESTEC will also be on the panel.

Note:  This event is free and open to the public. Reporters will have a chance to watch the film and interview presenters.
