Site contractors contribute more than $600,000 to eastern Idaho United Way organizations
IDAHO FALLS — United Way organizations in eastern Idaho received more than $600,000 in contributions from the three contractors working at the Department of Energy's Idaho site. Checks were presented to United Way representatives Thursday at the INL holiday reception.

Idaho Falls Mayor Jared Fuhriman was on hand to accept the contributions on behalf of the Bonneville County United Way Organization.
"On behalf of the United Way Fund drive, I appreciate the generous contribution from the employees of Idaho National Laboratory,” Mayor Fuhriman said. “INL plays an integral role in this community, and its employees always step up to the plate."
Battelle Energy Alliance (BEA), the contractor that runs Idaho National Laboratory, contributed $375,467 in combined donations from employees and the corporate office. INL employees dug deep to exceed last year's contributions and donate more than $320,000 this year. BEA's corporate contribution was $55,000.
CH2M-WG Idaho (CWI), the contractor that manages the Idaho Cleanup Project, contributed $125,668 in employee donations, surpassing its goal of $117,000. The employee contribution combined with URS and CWI’s corporate donation of $50,000 supports a grand total of $175,668 for the local United Way organizations.
For the fifth consecutive year, employees working at the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project exceeded their goal, raising $87,376. Matched with a $15,000 gift from Bechtel BWXT Idaho, which manages and operates AMWTP for the Department of Energy, AMWTP contributed $102,376, exceeding its goal of $100,001.
"It's an incredible group of employees who once again showed their caring and generous nature by supporting United Way to help our neighbors in need," said Jeff Mousseau, president and general manager of Bechtel BWXT Idaho. "We're very proud of making a positive difference in people’s lives."
INL is one of the DOE's 10 multiprogram national laboratories. The laboratory performs work in each of DOE's strategic goal areas: energy, national security, science and environment. INL is the nation's leading center for nuclear energy research and development. Day-to-day management and operation of the laboratory is the responsibility of Battelle Energy Alliance.
