Battelle Energy Alliance 2011 request for donations must be received by Sept. 15

IDAHO FALLS — Battelle Energy Alliance (BEA), operator of Idaho National Laboratory, is asking all requests for donations be submitted by Sept. 15.

BEA is committed to being an active community partner. Through the INL Community Giving program, BEA provides corporate-funded donations in selected areas including human services, health, environment, arts and civic projects.

"INL's Community Giving program will continue this effort, but is streamlining the process for requesting donations to line up with our fiscal year calendar, which begins Oct. 1," said Lori Priest, INL contributions administrator.

All requests for INL donations for calendar year 2011 need to be submitted on the 2011 Request for Donation form by Wednesday, Sept. 15. Requests submitted after Sept. 15 will not be included in the review process.

"We recognize the needs in our community are growing, so our selection process is very difficult," said Amy Lientz, director of INL Communications and Governmental Affairs. "Our first priority this year will be to give to organizations that support the basic needs of children and the underprivileged."

Forms for submitting 2011 community giving requests are available at http://www.inl.gov. From there, select the Community Outreach link on the left and scroll to view the Community Giving section where the 2011 form is posted. Completed forms can be submitted by fax (208-526-2089) or by e-mail (lori.priest@inl.gov).

Decisions about 2011 contributions to community organizations will be made on or before Oct. 31. Letters will be sent to requesting organizations informing them of funding awards.

Eligibility criteria: Organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit entities. A copy of the IRS tax-exempt letter must accompany the form. For agencies that provide services to children in need, preferential support is given to regional organizations. The INL Community Giving program does not fund political organizations, athletic events, contests, extracurricular school activities, fundraising events or emergency response funding. This funding does not include requests for education donations. For further information on educational funding requests, contact Brenda Greenhalgh at brenda.greenhalgh@inl.gov.

INL is one of the DOE's 10 multiprogram national laboratories. The laboratory performs work in each of DOE's strategic goal areas: energy, national security, science and environment. INL is the nation's leading center for nuclear energy research and development. Day-to-day management and operation of the laboratory is the responsibility of Battelle Energy Alliance.
