INL Site facilities closing today due to weather

IDAHO FALLS - INL contractors are curtailing work this morning at desert facilities due to hazardous road conditions and worsening weather. CWI and BEA will be closing their Site facilities for the day and coordinating to get buses back to the facilities, pick up employees by 10 a.m. and return them to town.

Workers who drove their own vehicles may, if they choose, leave their private vehicles and ride the buses back to town. Employees choosing to drive home from the Site are urged to USE EXTREME CAUTION.

Note: Those using personal vehicles are instructed to wait until the buses leave, and form a convoy with the buses. For added safety, a state snowplow will clear the road ahead of the INL convoy. During the trip, all drivers should observe a NO PASSING rule for safety.

The Idaho Department of Transportation has closed U.S. Highway 20 from Idaho Falls to the Howe Junction. Unless that changes by the time the buses roll, all traffic will have to take Highway 26 through Blackfoot or Highway 33 through Mud Lake.

Essential personnel - including security, snow removal crews and some others - will be instructed by their management of the actions they are to take. At this time, in-town work locations remain open. Employees with offices in town who can work from those offices today, are encouraged to do so.
