Personnel from the Power Systems Engineering Department have been involved with the U.S. Air Force Space Command since 1987.
Ascension Island – in conjuction with other partners, design, develop, and install power systems with great performance and stability.
Cape Canaveral Air Force Station – performed detailed short-circuit, load flow, and coordination analyses of the entire Cape Canaveral Air Force Station 13.8-kV distribution system. We have helped the Air Force plan 10 years of upgrades and correction to their Cape grid at a program cost in excess of $100M.
Reliability Assessments – provided the U.S. Air Force with numerous reliability, availability, and maintainability assessments of power systems at various space command facilities, including Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Base, and the Maui Satellite Tracking Facility. These assessments allow the Air Force to plan power system upgrades and reconfigurations to ensure the facilities can perform their missions.
Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Range Operations Control Center – in conjunction with the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, developed and designed a 7-MW standby diesel power plant for Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The power plant also included computerized peakshaving control capabilities.
