Work for Others (WFO)

INL develops unique science and engineering solutions for other Federal agencies, private companies, universities, and state and local govern-ments through the Work for Others (WFO) program. WFO is the performance of work, such as research and development or applied engineering, for sponsors outside of the Department of Energy.

The primary purpose of INL's WFO Program is to make available the wealth of technologies, personnel, expertise, and facilities in which Federal funds have been invested. The INL's advanced, state-of-the-art technology, materials and services are available to the public and private industry to advance the nation and industrial competitiveness.

WFO enhances transfer of technology to the private sector and supports a long-term benefit toward strengthening the competitiveness of U.S. industry. The customers who use INL's Work for Others program include private industry, plus the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, and National Security, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, NASA, and the Environmental Protection Agency and others.
