Amendment 000002 Issued for the Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research FOA (DE-FOA-0000998)

The Department of Energy has issued an amendment (000002) for the Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research (CINR) Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA). The purpose of this amendment is to update the FOA document in the following ways:
Add a document that will be required to be submitted as part of the full application package. The document is added at Part IV.C.2.c.11. titled "Point of Contact (POC) Information Sheet";
Provide more detailed instruction at Part IV.C.3.a. regarding section titled "Budget Justification Supporting Documentation";
Provide more detailed instruction at Part IV.C.4. regarding "R&R SUBAWARD (TOTAL FED+NON-FED) FORM" with more specific information under paragraph "a";
Update Table 8 "Summary of Required Forms/Files";
Provide further clarification for understanding cost sharing requirements in Part VIII.H. with Example 2;
In Appendix A (Workscopes for Program and Mission Support - University Only), remove workscope FC-4.2 "Transportation" (under Used Nuclear Fuel Disposition) from the FOA, and;
In Appendix C (Workscopes for Program Directed - University Only), update the last paragraph in IRP-NE workscope titled "Transient Test Instrumentation R&D".
NEUP.gov Is Now Accepting Full Applications for the CINR FOA

Applicants to the FY 2014 CINR FOA (DE-FOA-0000998, Amendment 000001) have been notified and neup.gov is now open to receive full applications.
Projects from 61 U.S. universities and 26 research institutions were chosen from those submitted by 98 U.S. universities and 56 research institutions based on their relevancy to the NE mission and their scientific and technical merit. The applications specifically focused on areas such as: fuel cycle research and development; reactor concepts research, development, and demonstration; as well as advanced modeling and simulation.
The solicitation is open exclusively to all who participated in the associated pre-application process that was recently completed. Full applications are due on April 3, 2014. NE will likely notify award recipients in August 2014.

The pre-application phase for Program Supporting and Mission Supporting R&D for the Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research FOA is now closed. Other portions of the FOA will remain open until April 3, 2014.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy today announced two Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) to support nuclear energy research at U.S. universities and colleges, national laboratories, and industry. U.S. universities and national laboratories will also have the opportunity to expand nuclear science and engineering research and education capabilities in support of the next generation of nuclear scientists and engineers. The Department will provide funds for Program Supporting, Mission Supporting, and Program Directed research, as well as upgrades to university research reactors and university and national laboratory general scientific infrastructure.
Two-year U.S. colleges and trade schools are encouraged to apply.
