The INL offers a career development opportunity for students to team up with scientific and technical experts at the Lab.

The National Spent Nuclear Fuel Program thanks the INL Student Action Team that participated in the development of these fact sheets. The team of four students worked with program experts to gather information and write about each of the major projects being sponsored by the National Spent Nuclear Fuel Program.

The INL provides internship opportunities that are challenging, innovative and on the cutting edge of today's technology to high school, university undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral students. Students are mentored by INL scientists and engineers to increase the exchange of ideas, information and technology. These programs focus on bringing university students to INL, with particular emphasis on increasing the number of postdoctoral investigators at the laboratory.

INL's principal mission is to develop and demonstrate advanced nuclear technologies that provide clean, abundant, affordable and reliable energy.  We also conduct basic and applied research to protect our nation's critical infrastructure and enhance our national security, facilitate DOE's legacy cleanup and stewardship responsibilities, and advance energy-related sciences.
