Energy Efficiency and Industrial Technology

The Department conducts research for DOE, other government customers, and industrial partners.

Research Areas:

Materials processing with focus areas of welding, plasma processing, and spray forming.

Intelligent systems with focus areas of industrial robotics, diagnostics/prognostics, and intelligent controls.

The Department has research and capabilities in three areas:

Plasma Technologies- Peter Kong, Ph.D.

Spray Forming - Kevin McHugh, Ph.D.

Joining, Robotics, and Manufacturing - Charles Tolle, Ph.D.

The Department is also home for The Industrial Technology Development Group, its interface for government and industry access to advanced technology products.
